Comment: Funny you say that about Walgreens. My daughter needed postcards for a school project once and Walgreens was the only store that had them too. I live close to DC so there are postcards 20 minutes away if I want to drive downtown.

Comment: Thank you for your informative, entertaining answers, Mandi :) I agree wholeheartedly about book covers -- I can walk around a bookstore for hours just walking to covers that catch my eye, smelling the paper, and reading the dustjacket flap synopses :) On the other hand, I love the uniformity and bold look of the Penguin and Pelican Classic paperbacks. I also love Matilda! The book from the end-of-childhood that I re-read and could recite portions from memory is E.L. Konigsburg's From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler. I still have the same yellowed, slightly battered copy from when I was 10 years old :) Happy reading!

Speaking of bears, my parents are visiting from IL, and their Jack Russell Terrier chase a bear up at Mammoth! Thank goodness she was leashed. And also thank goodness that the bear ran away.

Response: Me either. I volunteer in an art museum and our art director, Susan, always laughs at me because we will get a new exhibit and I will sit at her desk and be like "tell me why I care about this..."
I think Kandinsky is a good study in colors, but not my favorite artist.

Response: Nope. Nashville. We have the world's only full scale replica of the Parthenon, built in 1897 (and rebuilt 30ish years later), and I am a decent there. Last time I had a shift, I discovered a new penny machine.

Comment: I grew up in Metropolis, IL, and later lived in Clarksville, TN for a while, so every time I get a Nashville postcard, it makes me think of all the fun memories I have of visiting Nashville.
Response: I need to go back to Metropolis. I was there once but didn't get to see the town because it was a casino trip.

Comment: That one big building feels aggressively big. I'm not sure I care for it. Nashville is certainly evolving.
Response: Now that so much is built around it, you barely see it. When they built it, though, people were worried it would shadoe the bat building.

Response: You're in for a shock - 80+ months of tourism growth and an influx of 100 people/day. Downtown is 3x as tall and our new convention center stretches 3 city blocks.
