| Description: | |
| 1 partner, 1 block: 8-inch finished size (You need to have an additional 1/4-inch seam allowance on each side, so the block you will send will measure 8-1/2 inches to give an 8-inch-finished block.) 100 percent cotton quilting type fabrics (in other words not denim, terrycloth, etc.) I've chosen paper-piecing for this swap because the process allows beginners to create really excellent blocks, but also allows advanced quilters to choose blocks complicated enough to offer a challenge, if they desire. Paper-piecing tutorials can be found at: http://www.straw.com/quilting/articles/pfp-1.html http://www.winnowing.com/ppp.html http://www.quilt.com/HowTo/FoundationHowToPage.html http://www.quilterscache.com/StartQuiltingPages/startquiltingthree.html More block patterns can be found at: http://www.lenzula.com/ http://www.globnet.com/~flair/foundati.html http://www.yvonnes.dk/patterns.htm http://www.reddawn.net/quilt/month.htm Each swapper will choose a block to make. The choice can be simple or complex. The block you send should measure 8-1/2 inches (includes 1/4 inch seam allowance each side). The paper pieced block can be sized on a printer or photocopier to be the full 8 inches finished size or can be a smaller sized block surrounded by borders (log-cabin style, for example) to bring it to the required block size. I will give whatever help I can to anyone who gets stuck! and I will angel if needed. | |
