| "For how many years shall this festival abide! Never shall age destroy so holy a day! While the hills of Latium remain and father Tiber, while thy Rome stands and the Capitol thou hast restored to the world, it shall continue." - Saturnalia Saturnalia occurs traditionally on December 17 (though some traditions celebrate it for more than just that day - ending it on Winter Solstice). It was created to honor the god of sowing, Saturn. The poet Catullus describes Saturnalia as the best of days. It was a time of celebration, visits to friends, and gift-giving, particularly of wax candles (cerei), and earthenware figurines (sigillaria). For this swap, we will be sending our partner two things:
Just a little package to celebrate Saturnalia for your partner! The celebrative phrase used for this ancient holiday is "io saturnalia", which is pronounced "yo saturnalia". This will be a rather quick turnaround swap as we want everyone to receive their gifts before Saturnalia. Don't forget that the rule of the group is if you flake on a CW swap, you will be removed! | |
