I love working on small scale items, so inchies are so much fun to make. I create/alter/design a lot of my crafts using my pc and good ole PhotoShop. So I was wondering if it was ok to design them using such a computer graphics program?

Also, are the finished inchies suppose to be loose so our partner can use them in some way if they so wish? Or should they be somehow mounted?

Hi. Inchies should be loose because people collect and use them for many different things. You can put them in a trading card sleeve, tiny envelope, tiny zip lock bag etc. so they will be easy to find in the regular size envie you will mail them in.

Digital art is fine, but you may want to include a note in your swap explaining that it is YOUR artwork, so your partner doesn't think you printed out a computer graphic, glued it on a piece of cardboard and called it an Inchie.

Personally, I collect them, keep them in a box and take them out and look at them when I'm feeling blue.

@Kimi You can make your inchies using any materials. My personal favorite is magazine scraps (I like high fashion, Royal family and National Geographic magazines). I also use the tape transfer technique, and hand drawing/painting in some of my inchies.

@kataish Any medium is fine. If drawing is how you like to express yourself, go for it! I do lots of hand drawn/hand painted inchies. Sometimes I combine hand drawn work with collage.

@SyntheticStars fabric inchies are welcome, but please make sure they are mounted on a pice of 1x1 cardstock.

I have just got a book on inches and it's amazing the amount such a small space can contain and how beautiful they can be.
