1 Peter Chapter 1 (The Key Passage is 1 Peter 1:18-19)

Have you ever seen movies or heard stories of kidnappers holding their victim for ransom? Imagine if this happened to you! Your family and loved ones would pay any price and give up great sums of money for you to be released. Now imagine that someone would give his life for you. That is what Jesus did for you. He redeemed you with his blood. The Old Testament law called for the shedding of blood in order for God to forgive sin. The sacrifice could not be just any animal. There were strict guidelines and regulations. Jesus, perfect Lamb of God, took your sin upon Himself and redeemed you. When Christ redeemed you, He redeemed ALL of you -- not just parts. Your freedom was not purchased with gold or silver. Your life has been bought at a high price--the death of the Son of God. Celebrate this redemption!
